Dr. Lal brings deep research expertise in application of high through-put technology to gain insights into the biology of human cancers, with special interest in GU cancers and has clinical expertise in GU Pathology. B.S. (Genetics) from Delhi University, Delhi, India, and MD from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, India, she is currently the Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She also holds a speciality certification from the American Board of Pathology, Anatomic Pathology (Recertification).

She is a recipient of numerous prestigious honors, including being accorded in 2020 as the Scholar, Center for Global Health, Perelman School of Medicine. She is currently a member of various professional organizations including Pennsylvania Association of Pathologists, College of American Pathologists, AACR, ISUP, and ASCO. She also currently holds various hospital and administrative appointments including Staff Pathologist, University of Pennsylvania Health System; Director, Tissue Microarray Laboratory, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania; Director, GU Service, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and; Interim Directory Cardiac Pathology Service, University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Lal currently resides in Philadelphia, PA and is extremely passionate about innovation and access in healthcare.

Use of RT-PCR for detection of microbes (bacteria & viruses) in blood/sputum/urine/BAL samples is very useful.
